My relationship with SYNODUS HORRENDA is one based around the craziest show I've ever been a part of. In the summer of 2016 the project I do vocals for, мятеж, did a few dates in the U.S.A. and our Baltimore stop was put on by the beautiful people in SYNODUS HORRENDA who also lived in and ran Skramden Yards. Apparently a band dropped from the show a week or so prior and the band was asked to take their place, despite having not finished writing their songs. So we did the show and they played for about 8 minutes of semi-improv, screamy hardcore that was barely practiced, but it hardly showed. Check out the full review and videos for that show here.

This split between мятеж and SYNODUS HORRENDA features just over 12 minutes of caustic, screamy and sometimes atmospheric hardcore. The 50 cassettes are each housed in a unique photograph (so there are 50 different covers!) wrapped around a black tape, all within a plastic, resealable sleeve. From Baltimore, SYNODUS HORRENDA are a new band with members that have spent time in EyeletмищаDawntreader and Sunners, to name a few. Their five debut tracks trade off vocals from June and Nick and generally are pulsating, raw and dirty screamo with a heavy emphasis on punk rock and hardcore.

The SYNODUS HORRENDA side opens with an initially loose and hazy intro that cuts halfway through the song to all of the members spazzing out on "The Thrill of Living is Gone". "When a Bee Stings it Dies" is up next and wastes no time getting into yelly/shrieky, dark and raw hardcore with vocals that sound like they're on the brink of dying forever. "Somewhere Along the Line Things Went Terribly Wrong and Now Mr. Burns is My Favorite Simpsons Character" is an awesome stab at Pg.99 and German screamo with some exceptional screaming that is definitely one of the best songs on here. "We Are the Children of the Witches You Could Not Burn" is a rolling, sludgy and caustic romp through more screamy hardcore, again opting for screamier over screechier vocals. "Blood in the Jar" wraps up the SYNODUS HORRENDA side of the split tape, boasting a very engaging and eerie instrumental opening that climaxes with a dirty, viral and acidic close.

Tomorrow is the premiere of the entire мятеж and SYNODUS HORRENDA split cassette over at the Form Und Leer blog and pre-orders for the cassette are up now and linked here.
